Bathroom Sink Vanities

A lot of times, when we think about your bathroom vanity,  we think of it as the place that holds the cabinets and drawers which in turn hold your hygiene items, towels, wash cloths, hair dryer, etc.  But let’s not forget an equally important function of your fanity:  It holds your sink.  As such, there is a specific type of sink that is used for your bathroom vanity.

A bathroom sink vanity is used for the same things that a standard sink is.  However, precisely because it comes with the included storage space, it becomes more practical.  Also, there is the potential of more than one person using bathroom sink vanities, particularly if it’s designed with a double sink area.

A double sink vanity is, of course, longer, with two basins and twice the number of faucets.  There are also single-sink vanities that have longer tops–another option that allows two people to use the bathroom at the same time.  It’s something of a middle-ground alternative to the double sink vanity and the standard single sink unit.

The traditional design of a bathroom sink vanity includes the cabinet below and the sink basin sitting either within the cabinet or in some cases, as a separate item sitting on top of it.  It’s common for the cabinet to be made of wood, while the basin might be made of porcelain or glass.  Because the cabinet must be protected from the sink’s moisture, the vanity will often incorporate a stone counter.  It could be made from something like marble or granite or perhaps an altered man-made stone.  Some vanities also include a matching mirror.

Another option that you’ll need to select for your sink is what kind of faucets to include.  People who think all faucets are alike haven’t been paying attention!  Just check out the selection at http://www.homedesignoutletcenter.com and you’ll see that there is a style that can fit just about any bathroom.  Make sure that if the bathroom is contemporary, you use faucets that are sleek and modern.  If you’re going with antique or traditional, maybe something a bit more ornate is called for.

You’ll be using your bathroom sink and vanity regularly each day.  So do your homework and make sure you select one that looks great, but which is functional for your needs.
